Basic Handgun Safety
Please note - the Handgun Safety Class for December 6, 2008 is BACK ON for the A-Range at Duffy's Town. Please disregard any previous alert that noted the location had changed.
Open to all current HDSA members and their voting age family members. All current HDSA members who need certification for CCW renewals must contact: CRPL John Groff directly, at the Sheriff's department. [858] 565-3070
Print and fill in the form at the bottom of this page and send it to the HDSA office along with a check for $10.00 per person, non-refundable registration fee. This is required to reserve your spot.
Participation is limited to the first 30 applicants.
Important Details
A. Bring your own handgun [no loaners] unloaded. Leave weapons in your vehicle until instructed otherwise. [If renewing CCW, bring each weapon on your CCW]
B. Bring 50 rounds of factory ammo. No magnum rounds.
C. All weapons will be inspected for safety and appropriateness. No derringers or antiques.
D. Format: First half of course will be basic instruction and safety training in classroom. Second half will be basic, live fire handgun handling and shooting at range down in Duffy's Town.
E. Coffee, donuts and juice will be provided. We have several "Breaks" but work right through, so bring a light snack if you wish and quarters for the drink machines. Bring potable drinking water.
F. Bring ear and eye protection - a must! Prescription and/or dark glasses are acceptable. The range is outdoors, so wear appropriate clothing; perhaps a hat, sunscreen, Jacket, etc.
